Rose Lemberg

Rose Lemberg

Rose Lemberg lived on the Ukrainian/Polish border, in subarctic Russia, and in Israel before moving to the US to become a graduate student at UC Berkeley. Some years later she defended her dissertation and moved to the Midwest, where she at last officially became an immigrant. She works as an assistant professor at a local university. By late 2007, she became confident enough in her English to start writing and submitting poetry and prose. Her stories have appeared in Fantasy, Strange Horizons, Jabberwocky, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies, and her poetry in Goblin Fruit, Apex, Strange Horizons and many other venues. Her queer epic poem “In the Third Cycle” won the Rannu competition in 2011. She is the founder and co-editor (with Shweta Narayan) of Stone Telling, a magazine of boundary-crossing speculative poetry. Rose and Shweta are committed to nurturing diversity within the speculative poetry field, and much of the work they publish is feminist. Rose's project for Aqueduct is The Moment of Change, the first anthology of feminist speculative poetry (isn't it about time?) which showcases a wonderful and diverse body of work from established and emerging voices, including Ursula K. Le Guin, Nisi Shawl, Catherynne M. Valente, JT Stewart, Delia Sherman, Vandana Singh and others (the full table of contents is available on Rose's website: http://roselemberg.net/?p=142 ). Rose is looking forward to many more adventures in feminist literature of the fantastic.
